Professor Dragan Poljak from the University of Split in Croatia gave a special seminar at Ashurst Lodge on "Exposure to High Frequency Fields and Related Effect" in which he referred to the problem of base station and mobile phone antenna radiation and the possible related health effects.

He referred to the way of measuring and calculating the field strengths and the different rules and regulations which apply in different countries. Dragan also explained the theoretical and experimental methods widely used in incident and internal field dosimetry.

A special concern has been focused to the thermal response of the human body due to the exposure to HF fields. Dragan gave some guidelines for solving the corresponding bio-heat partial differential equation.

Finally, he discussed various international protection regulations and compared experimental and theoretical results to relevant safety limits proposed by international guidelines.

The Seminar was followed by a lively discussion related to the possible adverse health effects of HF of electromagnetic fields.
