WIT Course

Wessex Institute of Technology organises an active programme of short courses, the majority of which take place at Ashurst Lodge. The courses are aimed at both industry and academia. Attracting international participants, the courses are presented by well known specialists from around the world.

The circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic decreased the possibilities of in-person networking and the interchange of ideas. Due to this, the Institute organised between December 2020 and May 2022 a series of free live-streamed webinars, the WIT Winter Webinars, which covered the winter months until the start of the next calendar of WIT Conferences.

Each webinar was devoted to a specific scientific field and consisted of four 20-minute presentations selected among the best papers presented at the previous years' WIT Conferences and also included a 30-minute Q&A session at the end to allow attendees to put questions to the presenters.

The initiative was very successful. The variety of the topics and the quality of the presentations attracted a large number of registrations for each event and the networking among the speakers and the attendees was very enthusiastic and fruitful.

Registration for the webinars was free of charge and instructions on how to register and access the event could be found when the webinar one wishing to attend was selected.

It was hoped that this initiative would increase the dissemination of the best contributions from WIT Conferences, clearly describe the activities of the Institute, and encourage senior and junior researchers to attend our future conferences.
