The Institute provides a programme of study leading to a UK Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree. The complete programme for full-time students takes a minimum of two years, provided that the candidate has an appropriate Masters degree. In certain cases candidates may undertake this programme on a part-time basis, in which case the programme takes a minimum of three years.

 Entry Requirements

• A candidate for the degree of a PhD who wishes to carry out research at this Institute must hold an appropriate degree from an approved university prior to commencement of research.

• Irrespective of a candidate's qualifications, this Institute must satisfy itself that a candidate is of the required academic standard to complete the scheme of research proposed.

• Certified copies of degree certificates must be submitted to the Wessex Institute of Technology before commencement of the research programme.

• Students whose first language is not English will also be required to demonstrate a good standard of English and reach a score of 6.5 or above in the IELTS or equivalent.

• Two independent academc references must be received for all applicants.
