Conference Assistant - Full Time

Required to work as part of a team within the Conference Division of the Wessex Institute. The applicant would be involved with the secretarial support of conferences held around the world and should be meticulous, conscientious, enthusiastic, and possess good computer skills. The ability to interact with international delegates is essential. The successful applicant will be expected to travel abroad when required, after an introductory training period.

Post-Doctoral Fellowship

Applications are invited for suitable candidates, to work in the field of Material Characterisation with application to corrosion of different types of engineering components, related to the petrochemical industry.

Applicants are expected to have a background in Metallurgy and Material Sciences, including experimental and practical applications.

The work will involve internal and external corrosion relevant to the oil industry. He/she will provide support to an existing research team working on computer simulation and studies.

The position will be for a minimum of one year, with possible extension for a further year.

PhD Research Position

Applications are invited, from suitably qualified candidates, to work in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics with particular focus on nanoparticle movement under influence of acoustic waves. The post demands in part theoretical work in fluid mechanics and in part numerical modelling for solving the problem.

Applicants are expected to hold a good first degree in Engineering, Mathematics or Physical Sciences. It would be beneficial if the applicant has experience in numerical modelling of acoustic problems or fluid flow. Previous experience in programming is desirable. The successful candidate will be registered for a PhD degree and will have a stipend covering the living expenses and fees. The position is for three years.

The main objective of the project is design of production line for medical antibacterial textiles by use of sonochemical reactors and nanotechnology. The post will demand some theoretical work on the model development as well as numerical modelling for obtaining solution of the problem.
