The 2012 WIT Annual BBQ took place on a Sunday as is the custom, with a large attendance, and good weather.
The BBQ is a way for WIT to express its gratitude to friends, colleagues and all sorts of people connected to the Institute and Ashurst Lodge. It coincides with the Annual General Meeting of the Institute’s Board of Directors, an important occasion at which the future strategy of the Institute is drawn up.
This year, the BBQ was also the occasion to inaugurate the newly constructed swimming pool and gym building, an important addition for improving the quality of life on campus.
The local Member of Parliament, Dr Julian Lewis, presided over the event. He gave a short speech complimenting the Institute on the excellent building, which blends perfectly with those already existing on campus. He then cut the tape and the visitors were invited to see the inside of the building.
