Mr. Siraj Udin Ahmed
The main objective of the work is to use computer simulation and optimization techniques for design of constructed wetlands. A pilot plant study of Constructed wetland in Indian climatic condition has been conducted for different hydraulic and BOD loading. The pilot plant has been loaded for different organic loading starting from B.O.D. of 30 mg/l, 100 mg/l, 250 mg/l & 750 mg/l. and hydraulic loading from 50 l/m2/d to 200 l/m2/d. The Constructed wetland has shown very encouraging treatment results for waste water of municipal and agro-based industries. Since the treatment in Constructed wetland depends on bacteriological, biological and physical parameters, optimal design of this technology for Indian climatic condition and detailed study of biodegradation kinetics and engineering properties are essential. The optimisation will be achieved by using the transport model including biodegradation kinetics in combination with optimisation techniques. The model parameters will be calibrated by using the available data from the pilot plant.
