Henri Coanda International Airport

Located 18km north of central Bucharest, Henri Coanda International Airport is served by a large number of international airlines flying frequently to cities both in Europe and beyond. At present, these airlines include; Aegean Airlines, Aer Lingus, Aeroflot, Air France, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Czech Airlines, Delta, Easyjet, Iberia, KLM, LOT, Lufthansa, Olympic Airlines, SAS, Swiss, Vueling and TAROM, the Romanian national flag carrier which operates a comprehensive flight network within Europe.

Henri Coanda International Airport has good transport links to the city centre. Tickets can be purchased at the airport, costing 6 lei for a single journey, for the Henri Coanda Express. A shuttle bus links passengers to the station 1km away for the express train to Gara de Nord in Bucharest. This service operates between 6am and 11pm daily, with a total journey time of 50 minutes. In addition, bus services connect with Gara de Nord (Bus number 780) for connections to the Bucharest Metro network, and to central Bucharest (Bus number 783). Single tickets cost 3.5 lei and can be purchased at the airport and validated on board. A number of hire car companies operate at the airport, and Fly Taxi provides an authorized taxi service to the airport. Central Bucharest is approximately 50 minutes journey by road from Henri Coanda International.

Baneasa – Aurel Vlaicu International Airport

A smaller airport, situated close to the city centre, Baneasa – Aurel Vlaicu Airport offers flights to the city with a number of low-cost airlines, presently including Blue Air, WizzAir, SkyEurope, German Wings and My Air.

From Baneasa airport, central Bucharest is a ten minute journey away. Taxis are available and a number of hire car companies, including Avis, Direct, Hertz and Holiday Car Rentals are available at the airport. A number of bus services travel frequently to the city centre, and once in the city, a comprehensive bus and Metro network serves all parts of the city.
