Fifth International Conference on High Performance Structures and Materials

26 - 28 July 2010

Tallinn, Estonia
Submit an Abstract Register PDF Brochure

Supported by the Journal of Advances in Engineering Software

 Introduction

hpsm coverHPSM 2010 follows the success of the previous four conferences in the series, held in Seville, Spain in 2002; Ancona, Italy in 2004; Ostend, Belgium in 2006; and the Algarve, Portugal in 2008. The conference will address issues involving advanced types of structures, particularly those based on new concepts or new materials. Contributions will highlight the latest developments in design, optimisation, manufacturing and experimentation within these areas.

The use of novel materials and new structural concepts nowadays is not restricted to highly technical areas like aerospace, aeronautical applications or the automotive industry, but also affects fields such as civil engineering and architecture as demonstrated in the proceedings of previous HPSM conferences.

Delegates attending HPSM 2010 will be invited to submit an expanded version of their paper for publication in the Journal of Advances in Engineering Software, associated with the Wessex Institute of Technology.

Most high performance structures require the development of a new generation of materials, which can more easily resist a range of external stimuli or react in a nonconventional manner.

Particular emphasis will be placed on intelligent structures and materials as well as the application of computational methods for their modelling, control and management.

The list of topics gives an idea of the wide range of applications to be discussed during the meeting. Contributions on topics not listed are also welcome if they fall within the scope of the conference.

 Who Should Attend

Civil, mechanical, aerospace, ocean and biomedical engineers as well as those involved in structural and material research.
